To apply for an innovator grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Ogilvy needed to create a
platform that changed the global conversation around development aid. They conceived "Cause Generation,"
an online platform that empowers young people to choose, raise awareness for, and help solve a singular
global issue important to their generation. While the concept was simple, the execution was anything
but: Ogilvy needed visuals to explain their idea and make it resonate.
So they sought out Visually's journalism and design expertise to create an infographic that would explain the Causes Generation program to new audiences quickly and easily.
Visuals do, indeed, explain ideas and make stories resonate with people more strongly than words alone. "Cause Generation" was selected as one of nine 2013 Grand Challenges Explorations Initiatives winner, out of more than 1,200 applicants from 85 countries. As a grant winner, Ogilvy was awarded $100,000 to develop the concept and may receive up to $1 million in additional funding to activate Cause Generation globally.
